AIR QUALITY IN THE AIX-MARSEILLE METROPOLE MEASURED
Since this summer, postmen in the 11th arrondissement of Marseille have been measuring air quality during their rounds using sensors installed on their vehicles. This project, entitled Diams (Digital Alliance for Marseille Sustainability), launched by the Aix-Marseille Métropole, aims to provide personalized information in order to encourage awareness and commitment and to build an action plan on air quality.
The proximity of the La Poste Group network allows it to make nearly 300 postman vehicles available to the project. Equipped with sensors, they will travel the roads of the metropolis for a year, providing real-time quantitative and qualitative data on air quality.
The objective is to identify and map areas of high pollution local, called hotspots. Already installed in large capitals such as Paris and Lisbon, these sensors make it possible to predict possible pollution peaks and make decisions in the very short term to limit them.
