The mayor (PS) of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, signed, Wednesday February 14, a partnership agreement with the electricity distributor Enedis (Ex ERDF), the air quality monitoring body in Île-de-France Airparif, the Breath Foundation and the company PlanetWatch24 to consolidate the Pollutrack system, which aims to measure in real time and, directly in traffic flow, the level of fine PM2.5 particles (less than 2.5 µm).
Paris City Hall believes that "there is a public health emergency because fine PM2.5 particles are recognized by the World Health Organization as being particularly harmful." According to the latest Airparif report, 95% of Ile-de-France residents are exposed to levels beyond WHO recommendations (10 µg/m3 on annual average).
